Winter is on the Way (I think?)

I've been dreaming of winter.  I keep hoping it will show up, but it just gets warmer.  My forsythia is blooming and one of my irises is blooming.  So today I was clinging to the Ecclessiates 3 passage, "To everything there is a season", and reminding myself that God's timing is perfect.
This piece is created with lots of layers of Prismacolor pencils.  I used a white eraser to lift out some of the branches and Micron pen to do the lettering of the scripture.  If you would like a list of the colors I used, leave a comment.  If you are in my class, we will do this piece on Jan. 20.

This is what the two page spread looks like.  I illustrated this passage in the fall as well.  I thought it would be okay to use two illustrations side by side. I think the colors work well together. I repeated the reds and some of the greens.

  1. Beautiful....where are you and your classes...is this drawn by you and if so, how do you teach others??? The picture is beautiful and of course, I love that truth about seasons....

    1. Lynn, I am in Memphis. I teach on Wednesday nights at Highland Heights Pres. I drew this myself, based on something I say on the Internet. It is done in Prismacolor Premier pencils. The lettering is Micron Pen. I have a pattern for my students to trace or transfer. I teach simple techniques of coloring in with the pencils. I demo how to layer colors and blending techniques. Most students do what they can and simplify when they need to. Some artistic students will do there own thing. The Harvest picture above was not one I did in class. If I ever teach this one I will leave out the little girl and us use the apples.
